Employing a professional property or handyman services business to help out often raises questions. Here is a list of frequently asked questions from my customers. Hopefully these will help you.

What jobs do you do?

We offer a range of indoor and outdoor property services. Gutter hoovering, washing and repairs. Solar panel cleaning. Fencing, decking and shed repairs and new installations. House painting (inside and out). Patio and driveway cleaning and repairs, minor works and most other small jobs.

However, we are comfortable saying no and we won’t take on jobs that fall outside of our skill set. In these situations we can normally work in collaboration with other specialist tradespeople to get the job done.

How local are you?

The business is based in Exminster on the outskirts of Exeter where I have lived for 48 years,

Interesting Fact: Did you know Exminster is famous for its marshes which is a major site for birds, especially migratory ones. It is also home to the very rare Cirl Bunting.

Are you Checkatrade approved?

Yes, we are registered on the Checkatrade list of approved contractors and all our work is guaranteed for 12 months.

Are you CRB checked?

Yes – although this is not an industry requirement its one that I believe is very important, especially when inviting strangers into your house. This check helps to give customers peace of mind.

Do you have insurance?

Absolutely yes – Its one of many criteria for being a Checkatrade approved so you can be confident in the service provided.

Do you have a Waste Licence?

Yes – we are fully licenced in accordance with the Environment Agency to carry and dispose of waste.

Do you charge for estimates?

No, estimates are FREE. I always suggest and prefer to meet customers face to face before starting any work. This gives us an opportunity to chat through the required work, make a plan and agree an estimated price in advance.

Is there a minimum visit charge?

Yes. The minimum visit charge is £60 and covers the first hour of labour. Additional labour is then charged at £60 per hour charged in 30min/£30 slots. We also offer a £325 day rate (>6hrs/£35 saving) for customer who have a bigger list of jobs.

Prices – How much does everything cost?

Estimates

Estimates are FREE. I always suggest and prefer to meet customers face to face before starting any work. This gives us an opportunity to chat through the required work, make a plan and agree an estimated price in advance. I find 99% of my customers prefer this approach as it helps them to budget and provides peace of mind.

Minimum Visit Charge & Odd Jobs

Minimum visit charge is £60 and covers the first hour of labour. Additional labour is then charged at £60 per hour charged in 30min/£30 slots. We also offer a £325 day rate (>6hrs/£35 saving) for customer who have a bigger list of jobs.

CLEANING SERVICES

We currently offer 2 standard gutter cleaning options;

  1. Hoover Only – £150 (minimum visit charge)
  2. Hoover & Wash – £300 (recommended)

Option 2 includes hoovering the gutters out, cleaning the plastic exterior and washing all uPVC fascia and soffit boards.

Conservatory washing is also available in addition to option 2. Typical cost £60.

REPAIR SERVICES

We currently offer 4 standard gutter repair options;

  1. Ladder Repair & Hoover – £200
  2. Ladder Repair, Hoover & Wash – £360
  3. Scaffold Repair & Hoover – £350
  4. Scaffold Repair, Hoover & Wash – £475.

SOLAR Panel Cleaning

Our minimum visit charge for solar panel cleaning is £150 and includes up to 10 panels. Additional panels are then charged at £10 each. *** Special offer – save 25% off your total bill when you combine solar panel cleaning with any gutter cleaning option. ***

Scaffolding Hire

We own a scaffold tower so we can provide customers with a discounted hire service of £100 per day (£150+ in many builders merchants/hire shops). Scaffolding is often needed for roof cleaning jobs, occasionally for more complex gutter repairs and other ad-hoc jobs like porch replacements.

Fencing, Decking & Sheds

These job types are more complex in nature and are longer in duration. Estimates are provided on request and include the supply and fitting of all materials and fixings and the licenced removal of waste.

SOLAR

We work with Project Solar (the UKs largest supplier of residential solar). The price of solar differs from house to house simply because customers have different consumptions levels and want different solutions. Contact us and a member of our friendly sales team will be happy to chat you through your options.

Do prices include VAT?

JJS Property Services is not currently not VAT registered. Prices do not include VAT because its not applicable.

Can you do 2 man jobs?

Yes, we work as a 2 man team for SAFETY reasons. We can also flex in more resource for bigger jobs.

Do you work for Landlords & other businesses?

Yes we do. We already work with many local businesses – Estate Agents, Charities, Public Houses and even the local Post Office and Tesco Express. We also work with many private Landlords to help them manage all there property needs.
